SCATTERED THOUGHTS # 3 GOOD PEOPLE
Some of us are lucky enough to come across GOOD PEOPLE. From my earliest memories I have been blessed with an assorted cast of characters who have come in all shapes and sizes. Yesterday, I received an e-mail from a dear friend that I have known since childhood who wanted to let me know that her Aunt Jackie had passed. After reading those words I stopped and let the memories flow. When I first met Aunt Jackie I was around nine or ten and she was probably in her early thirties. She was so beautiful, hysterically funny and full of life. I wanted to be her! I was just a neighborhood kid who lived down the street BUT whenever she was visiting at their house I wanted to be there and be part of their family/life. She was married to my friend's Uncle and they had an adorable an child who we called "Critterford" (his name was really Christopher). She had a knack of making everyone feel special. Aunt Jackie and her family moved to Florida while I was still a tween and I never saw them again. They fell upon difficult times and I'd hear bits and pieces about their life over the years and every time I'd inquire I always wanted to write to let her know I was keeping her in my thoughts and to thank her for making such fun memories for me and for always being so nice. Well, life got in the way, and that letter was never sent.
Aunt Jackie, you are part of the fabric of my being. From you I have taken many things and I bet you did not even know they were missing! I am positive that you are soaring and I hope you know that your presence in my life was huge. Although many of us are not in our early thirties we still have the ability to have a life-altering effect upon all those we come across. Being a good person never gets old and people do remember.
There is a song (I guess music is also a part of my fabric) by Gosh Groban, called THANKFUL. For all the people who we have forgotten to thank in our lives let's send it to them and their family's! Critterford and Deb this is for you! Maybe closed ears will be opened tonight:) We CAN all be GOOD PEOPLE!
